Precipitate dissolution during deformation induced twin thickening in a CoNi-base superalloy subject to creep

چکیده

The tensile creep performance of a polycrystalline Co/Ni-base superalloy with multimodal γ′ distribution has been examined at 800∘C and 300 MPa. rupture life the alloy is comparable to that RR1000 tested under similar conditions. Microstructural examination after testing revealed presence continuous precipitates M23C6 carbides along grain boundaries. Intragranularly, coarsening secondary occurred expense fine tertiary γ′. Long planar deformation bands, free γ′, were also observed traverse individual grains. Examination bands confirmed they microtwins. sections microtwins depleted stabilising elements across their entire width, suggesting certain compositions are susceptible precipitate dissolution during twin thickening. A mechanism for suggested based on Kolbe reordering mechanism.

Precipitate Redistribution During Creep of Alloy 617

Nickel-based superalloys are being considered for applications within advanced nuclear power generation systems due to their high temperature strength and corrosion resistance. Alloy 617, a candidate for use in heat exchangers, derives its strength from both solid solution strengthening and the precipitation of carbide particles. However, during creep, carbides that are supposed to retard grain...

Creep Crack Growth Simulation of Ni-base Superalloy

The purpose of this study is to develop a numerical approach to simulate the creep cracking of a Ni-base superalloy. The approach is based in continuum damage mechanics (CDM) and uses the classic Kachanov-Rabotnov constitutive equations for creep deformation and damage evolution. Creep damage takes the form of defects such as microcracks, cavities, voids, etc. A numerical crack growth algorithm...

Fatigue-creep-environment Interactions in a Directionally-solidified Ni-base Superalloy

Directionally-solidified (DS) GTD-111 is a Ni-base superalloy designed to withstand damage occurring in the first and second stage blades of gas-powered turbines. Because of the distinctive microstructure of this material, the manner in which fatiguecreep-environment damage mechanisms interact to initiate cracks is sensitive to grain structure and chemical composition. Along with fatigue cyclin...
